Edmonson County Mugshot Records
Kentucky law defines a “booking photograph” and an “official inmate photograph” in KRS 61.870. A booking photo documents intake at a jail. An institutional offender photo may be made or updated later by the Kentucky Department of Corrections. Those images are not interchangeable.
Edmonson County has no operating detention center. Local detainees are housed at Hart County Jail in Munfordville, so Hart normally creates and holds the intake photograph for that booking. The Edmonson County Sheriff may hold an arrest report or a photo created during its own work, but it does not automatically possess Hart’s booking image. Ask which agency created the requested photograph before filing.
The Kentucky Open Records Act provides an access process, but the statutory definition does not force a jail to publish a gallery or make every image available in every case. The custodian applies exemptions under KRS 61.878, including rules for protected, sealed, juvenile, investigative, security-sensitive, or private material.
Edmonson County Photo Channels
Start with the source tied to the person’s custody. A photo can persist after release, but its continued display says nothing about whether the person remains in jail. The table separates official discovery routes from less reliable leads.
| Channel | Photo? | Access and meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Hart current roster | Possible | Check the facility portal; no released-photo archive or retention term was verified. |
| Hart records request | Best official county route | Ask for the image tied to the named booking and approximate date. |
| KDOC KOOL | Many records | An institutional offender photo, not necessarily the Hart booking photo. |
| VINE | Sometimes | An agency-supplied image may appear, but custody status and alerts are its main purpose. |
| Official news or local reporting | Sometimes | Shows what was published on that date, not a complete release database. |
| Commercial mirrors | May persist | Use only as a lead, with no assumption of current custody or conviction. |
No verified Hart County Jailer or Edmonson County Sheriff mobile app publishes a released-person photo archive. A visitation or communications vendor app is not an official mugshot database. No commercial mugshot publisher is linked here.
Note: When a released person leaves the current Hart roster, request the existing photo record rather than treating roster absence as deletion.
Hart Booking Photos After Release
The Hart portal is a current-custody gateway. Research did not confirm a stable official 24-hour or 72-hour released list, historical mugshot gallery, refresh cadence, or photo-retention statement. A name or photo dropping from the view is an unresolved event. The person may have bonded out, completed a sentence, transferred to KDOC, moved to another jail, or entered another authority’s custody.
For a release check, pair the roster with Kentucky VINE, Hart County Jail, and the Edmonson court case. For the image itself, identify the booking and request the photograph. Hart County Jail is at 520 AA Whitman Lane, P.O. Box 670, Munfordville, KY 42765, and the official jailer contact lists 270-524-2571. The Edmonson County 24-hour release page explains why the current roster cannot be relabeled as a recent-release feed.
Ask for the photo as an existing record. An agency does not have to conduct research, answer a set of questions, or create a new explanation. A narrow request makes the record easier to locate and lets the custodian apply the law to the exact image.
Request Edmonson County Booking Photos
Kentucky’s access procedure appears in KRS 61.872. Direct the request to the agency that holds the image. For an intake at Hart, that will generally be Hart County Jail rather than the Edmonson Sheriff. Request electronic delivery when suitable and ask for the booking or release sheet separately if the release event also matters.
- Give the person’s full name and date of birth if known.
- Identify the approximate booking date, Edmonson arresting agency, and court case or booking number when available.
- Ask for “the booking photograph associated with that booking” in an existing electronic format.
- State that the request seeks the existing image, not a new summary or answers to questions.
- Review any written denial or redaction explanation and the exemption the custodian cites.
An agency generally must send a written response within five business days of receipt. That is a response deadline, not a promise of production within five days. If a record is in use, stored elsewhere, or unavailable, the agency must give a reasonable production date and detailed reason under the statute. KRS Chapter 61 also permits reasonable copy and mailing costs and certain actual production costs for nonstandard formats.
KDOC Photos for Edmonson Offenders
KOOL Advanced Search can locate a person convicted in Edmonson County who entered KDOC custody or supervision. Its camera indicator and photo-only filter help find records with an image, although KDOC says most, not all, public records have one. Search by last name and first initial, then compare identifiers and conviction facts.
KDOC states that institutional photos are updated at least annually or after a significant appearance change. This can make a KOOL image newer than the Hart booking photo. It also means the image documents the state offender record, not the local intake. A county-only defendant who bonded out or served a short local sentence may not be in KOOL at all.
For a missing or older state image, use the KDOC open-records process. VINE may display an image received from a participating agency, but photo presence is not assured. Cite the facility or KDOC as the originating source when accuracy matters.
Old Edmonson County Photo Leads
Commercial recent-booking sites may retain Hart photos after the person leaves. Their timestamp may reflect publication or capture rather than the actual release. An old page is only a discovery lead. It does not prove that the person is now confined, that charges remained unchanged, or that a conviction followed. Verify identity and status with Hart, KOOL, VINE, and the court record.
Local news, including the Edmonson Voice, and official agency releases sometimes show an arrest or case image. A story establishes what that publisher reported on its publication date. It is not a full booking database or a release record. Later dismissal, acquittal, expungement, or sentence completion may not appear on the old page.
No pay-to-remove service should be treated as an official route. Requests involving an agency’s own record belong with that agency. Questions about a private publisher’s page belong with the publisher, subject to current law.
Edmonson County Expungement Mismatch
Kentucky expungement can remove qualifying court and agency records from public systems. The Kentucky Court of Justice expungement information explains the process and its effects. A qualifying dismissed-with-prejudice or acquitted case after July 15, 2020 may be automatically expunged after 30 days. Eligible felony relief generally requires a five-year wait after the sentence or supervision ends.
That process helps explain a common mismatch. The official case can disappear while a third party still has an old photograph. A missing official result does not prove the booking never occurred. An old photo does not prove present status. KRS Chapter 431 contains Kentucky’s governing expungement provisions, including different rules for acquittals, dismissals, and eligible convictions.
The official Kentucky expungement page outlines the state process and timing.
Expungement does not support guessing about a hidden case. Confirm the applicable order or official response.
Kentucky Pay-to-Remove Restriction
KRS 61.8746 targets a specific commercial practice. A person may not commercially publish an agency-obtained booking photograph or official inmate photograph while requiring payment or other consideration for removal. The statute permits injunctive relief and a civil action that may include costs, fees, and potential per-day damages.
The law is not a blanket ban on all publication. It does not guarantee that a jail must disclose a photo, and it does not create a universal deletion right against every page. Read it with the Open Records Act’s definitions and exemptions. KOOL’s institutional image must also be described for what it is, not automatically called a Hart mugshot.
Photo-record limit: A booking or institutional photograph does not establish present custody, release, guilt, or the current state of a court case. Verify the image and status with the office that created the record.
The Edmonson County release-record search provides the custody and court channels needed to put an image in context. A photograph alone never proves where a person is today.
Match Edmonson County Mugshot Sources
Keep the source name and view date when records conflict. A Hart booking photo, later KDOC image, and cropped news image may show the same person at different times. Facial similarity alone is not enough. Compare booking or DOC numbers, date of birth, case facts, and the originating agency.
If an official image is withheld, the custodian’s written response records that access decision. A blank result does not prove no photograph exists. A later request should address the cited exemption and exact existing record.
